Visiting information

Visitors are an important factor to the wellbeing and person-centred care of patients.

We have pledged to support John's Campaign, meaning we welcome carers at all times to support patients living with dementia or experiencing delirium, including overnight if necessary.

Please speak to the nurse in charge if you are a carer and feel your loved one would benefit from your support outside of our normal visiting hours.

Please treat our colleagues, patients, and each other, with respect. We will not tolerate discrimination, verbal or physical abuse.

Adult inpatients

Visiting times for adult inpatient wards are 11am to 8pm.

Visiting is permitted for a maximum of two visitors per bed space at a time.

Visiting to COVID-positive wards or patients is permitted for one named visitor. Please wear a mask or face covering, unless exempt.

Maternity

Labour Ward

Two birthing partners are welcome at all times.

Children are also welcome to visit the Labour Unit. Please discuss visiting options with the midwife caring for you, in order to arrange when is best for children to visit.

Wharncliffe Ward

One named birthing partner welcome 10am to 8pm.

Siblings are welcome 10am to 8pm and must be accompanied by the named birthing partner.

Other visitors welcome 12pm to 2pm and 6pm to 8pm.

No more than two visitors at the bed side at any one time. We appreciate that sometimes your baby will have more than one sibling to meet. In this circumstance, please let your midwife know and we can arrange for your family to be together for a visit.

High Dependency Unit (HDU) / Intensive Care Unit (ICU)

Visiting is 11.30am-2.30pm and 4.30pm-8pm.

We have a daily quiet period for part of the afternoon (2.30pm-4.30pm) to allow patients to rest.

Children's Ward and Children's Assessment Unit

Two parents or guardians may visit together.

Siblings are welcome to visit the ward, with a maximum of two visitors per bed space at any one time.

Special Care Baby Unit

Parents or carers and siblings of the baby are encouraged to be present at any time.

Family and friends can visit 12:30pm to 1:30pm, and 6:30pm to 8pm.

All visitors are asked to visit with the baby’s parents/guardians.

Children who are not siblings of the baby are not allowed to visit.

To ensure the safety of patients reduce infection risks to the baby, the number of visitors at the cot side is restricted to three at any one time.

Visitors must not attend Special Care Baby Unit if they have symptoms of any infection.

Urgent and Emergency Care Centre (UECC)

Visitors are not permitted in the Urgent and Emergency Care Centre, but patients may be accompanied by a carer as required.

Please do not visit if you have any symptoms of Covid-19 or flu.

Do not visit if you have been suffering from any of the following within the last 48 hours:

Vomiting
Diarrhoea
Cold or flu symptoms

We ask that all visitors:

Wash their hands thoroughly and regularly sanitise, especially when entering or leaving a ward
Only bring essential items for a patient's stay in hospital
Wear a face covering when visiting UECC, Critical Care, Ward A7 or patients who have tested positive for Covid-19
Do not hold doors open to allow other people to follow them on to a ward
